Which Apple Watch models work with Atlon?
Atlon works on any Apple Watch that runs watchOS 10 or later, paired with an iPhone running iOS 18 or later. That’s Apple Watch Series 4 and newer, every Apple Watch SE and every Apple Watch Ultra. Exercise recognition runs on the watch itself in every mode. Counting rounds with double tap needs a newer watch.
How it works
- Watch: Atlon’s watch app needs watchOS 10 or later. The watches that can run watchOS 10 are Series 4 and later, SE and Ultra (MacRumors’ watchOS 10 compatibility list). Check Settings → General → About on your watch for its watchOS version.
- iPhone: the iPhone app needs iOS 18 or later. You need the iPhone to sign in, to see your workouts set by set, and for the big-screen gym timer.
- Recognition: exercises are recognised and reps counted on the watch, in every workout mode. There’s no separate “lite” mode for older watches.
- Double tap: counting a round by tapping your finger and thumb together twice works on watches that support Apple’s double tap gesture, running watchOS 11 or later (for example Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2). On other watches, you tap the Round button on screen. See How do I count rounds with double tap?

Limits
- Apple Watch Series 3 can’t run watchOS 10, so it can’t run Atlon.
- Atlon is only for Apple Watch and iPhone. There’s no version for Android, Wear OS, Garmin or other watches.
- On watches that can’t use double tap, rounds are counted with a tap on the screen.
